Most people with dementia will eventually need some care at home if they are to remain within the comfort of their own familiar surroundings. Although dementia can seem like a challenging issue to face for families, with the right professional care and support, individuals with dementia can still enjoy an active, happy and fulfilling life in their own homes. At Olive Home Care and Support we are actively trying to improve the options for people with dementia to remain at home. Homecare is often an overlooked option, yet it is a viable and often preferable option for many people with dementia compared to moving into residential nursing care.
Far too many times, people with dementia find themselves pigeonholed, often losing their identity, when in fact, each is an individual and it is only dementia they have in common. Sometimes care could be of a practical nature, help with getting up, washing or dressing or perhaps help with meals, laundry ,ironing and shopping.
Care visits are usually 30 minutes to an hour long. However, there is no upper time limit for our care visits. Indeed, many of our customers who have some form of dementia enjoy the support of our carers to provide an additional level of reassurance.
